Flooring is where bad preparation shows up fastest. Tiles laid on an uneven or unsealed screed lift and drum within a year; natural stone and terrazzo stain permanently without the right sealer; timber cups and gaps if it is laid over damp. We do the part underneath that nobody sees but everybody feels — level, sound, sealed substrate — and then lay the surface you want, from polished local terrazzo to micro-cement to imported tile.

The Part Under the Floor Decides Everything

The single most common floor failure we are called to fix is tile laid on a poor bed — hollow, drumming, lifting at the edges. It is never the tile's fault; it is the preparation. We check the substrate is level and sound, seal it against damp where needed, and use the correct adhesive and grout for wet areas versus living spaces. New flooring is a natural pairing with a bathroom renovation or kitchen remodel, and it is a standard line in any full villa renovation.

Tile and stone laying runs IDR 150,000–350,000 per m² in labour depending on format and pattern; cast terrazzo and micro-cement IDR 450,000–900,000 per m² supplied and laid; timber and decking are quoted by material. My tiles sound hollow and some are lifting — why?
They were laid on a poor or unsealed bed, or with the wrong adhesive. It is a preparation failure, not a tile failure. We take up the failed area, correct and seal the substrate, and relay it properly.
What is micro-cement and does it suit Bali?
Micro-cement is a thin, seamless cementitious finish that gives a modern, joint-free look on floors and walls. Sealed correctly it handles tropical use well and is popular in contemporary villa renovations.
Can you lay timber floors in a humid climate?
Yes, with the right base. Indoors we use engineered timber over a moisture-controlled substrate; outdoors we use treated hardwood decking with ventilation underneath. Solid timber over damp is what causes cupping, so we control for that first.
