Pool Renovation & Resurfacing in a Bali villa

A pool is the centrepiece of most Bali villas and the first thing rental guests photograph — so a stained, leaking or dated pool drags down the whole property. The two problems we see most are surface failure (chalky, rough or discoloured plaster and lifting waterline tiles) and slow leaks that show up as a pool that drops faster than evaporation explains and a water bill nobody can account for. We fix both, from a cosmetic resurface to a full structural and plant overhaul.

What Pool Renovation Covers

Resurfacing

New plaster, pebble or tiled interior finish over a properly prepared shell — smooth, sealed and colour-matched to the look you want.

Tiling & Coping

Waterline tiles, full mosaic relining and new coping stones, all re-bedded on sound, waterproofed substrate.

Leak Detection & Repair

Pressure testing of plumbing, structural crack repair and re-sealing — finding the leak before resurfacing over it.

Plant & Filtration

New pumps, filters, salt chlorinators and pipework to cut running costs and keep the water clear with less effort.

Fix the Leak Before You Resurface

The most expensive mistake in pool renovation is resurfacing a beautiful new finish over an unrepaired structural crack or leaking fitting — within months the leak reappears and the new surface is compromised. We pressure-test the plumbing and inspect the shell first, repair what is failing, and only then resurface. For pools on coastal or sloping sites we also check the surrounding deck and terrace waterproofing, since a leaking pool often takes the deck with it. Pool works pair naturally with our terrace and outdoor renovation.

What Pool Renovation Costs

A cosmetic resurface of a standard villa pool starts around IDR 45 million; a full retile with new coping runs IDR 80–180 million depending on size and tile choice; structural leak repair and new plant are quoted after inspection. Most pool renovations take 2–4 weeks including curing time before refilling. See the pricing page.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to renovate a pool in Bali?
A cosmetic resurface of a standard villa pool starts around IDR 45 million; a full retile with new coping runs IDR 80–180 million depending on size and tiles. Structural and plant work is quoted after a leak inspection.
How do I know if my pool is leaking?
If the water drops more than about 5mm a day beyond what evaporation explains, or your water bill has crept up, it likely is. We pressure-test the plumbing and bucket-test the shell to confirm before any resurfacing.
How long is the pool out of use?
Usually 2–4 weeks. New plaster and waterproofing need to cure properly before refilling — refilling too early is a common cause of early surface failure.
Can you switch my pool to saltwater?
Yes — we fit salt chlorinators as part of a plant upgrade. Many owners find saltwater gentler on skin and cheaper to run than dosing with liquid chlorine in the long term.
