A pool is the centrepiece of most Bali villas and the first thing rental guests photograph — so a stained, leaking or dated pool drags down the whole property. The two problems we see most are surface failure (chalky, rough or discoloured plaster and lifting waterline tiles) and slow leaks that show up as a pool that drops faster than evaporation explains and a water bill nobody can account for. Fix the Leak Before You Resurface

The most expensive mistake in pool renovation is resurfacing a beautiful new finish over an unrepaired structural crack or leaking fitting — within months the leak reappears and the new surface is compromised. We pressure-test the plumbing and inspect the shell first, repair what is failing, and only then resurface. For pools on coastal or sloping sites we also check the surrounding deck and terrace waterproofing, since a leaking pool often takes the deck with it. How do I know if my pool is leaking?
